Forty years of success: Paul Gazzola’s heartfelt thank you to Guelph

For over four decades, Paul Gazzola has built more than a successful mortgage business; he’s built lasting relationships, a close-knit family business, and a legacy rooted in helping others.

Paul Gazzola’s drive to succeed has always been deeply personal. Born and raised in Guelph by Italian immigrant parents; Paul grew up watching his parents balance multiple jobs, make sacrifices, and work incredibly hard to build a life for their family.

He has tremendous respect and gratitude for everything his parents did for him. From an early age, Paul learned the importance of family, hard work, and perseverance; values that have shaped both the way he has built his business and the way he lives his life.

After graduating from high school, Paul began working in the home renovation industry, where he saw firsthand the challenges people faced when trying to secure financing. At the time, mortgage brokering was still a relatively small and niche industry, and many borrowers had limited options beyond the traditional banks.

Paul recognized an opportunity to fill that gap and help people find financing solutions that weren’t always readily available to them. With determination to succeed, Paul launched his own business at just 20 years old, alongside his business partner.

A family at heart

For Paul, one of the greatest rewards of 40 years in business is the family that has grown around him. Over the years, his work has brought his family together in a way he never could have imagined when he first started. Today, his sister-in-law Crisalee, daughters Brittany and Chelsey, and most recently his nephew Tye, are all part of the business and helping carry forward what he started.

Paul built a career and business that made helping people feel both meaningful and rewarding. His genuine passion for his clients and the relationships he built along the way inspired his family to want to continue what he started. “My father created something that we genuinely want future generations of our family to be part of,” says Brittany. “It’s about carrying forward the values, relationships, and legacy he has built.”

Paul’s sister-in-law, Crisalee, has worked alongside Paul for 34 years. Over that time, she has witnessed the business grow and evolve firsthand, navigating the many changes, challenges, and shifts that come with building a business over four decades. For Crisalee, being part of the company has never felt like simply a job; it has been about being part of something bigger and watching the family legacy continue to grow.

“One of the things that I appreciate most is that Paul has always made the people around him feel like they matter,” says Crisalee. “The business has grown, but Paul has always had a deep appreciation for the people who helped build it and the role they’ve played in its story. We’re seeing the next generation come into the business, and that’s pretty special.”

Perhaps no one reflects the connection that Paul Gazzola has with his employees more than administrator Bev Perry. Bev is 84-years-old and she has been working with Paul for nearly 25 years.

“I have stayed because of the way Paul operates his business and the way he cares for his clients,” says Bev. “He does whatever he can to help people get into a better financial position.”

At a time in her life when many other people her age are well into retirement, Bev comes into the office every day to see the people that she considers family.

A business success story

When Paul started the business 40 years ago, borrowers had few places to turn beyond the big banks. He helped people denied by traditional lenders secure a mortgage, rebuild their credit, and lighten their debt load. “We work with 57 lenders to find the best product, rate, and solution for our clients,” says Chelsey. “Having access to so many lending options allow us to find solutions that are tailored to each client’s unique circumstances and goals, whether they’re purchasing their first home, refinancing, renewing, or looking to make their next move.”

Paul Gazzola has earned national recognition within the mortgage industry, ranking among the top brokers in the country and being recognized as a franchise on Canadian Mortgage Professional’s Top 75 Broker List for several years.

It’s a testament to the trust of his clients, his industry knowledge, and decades of hard work. But for Paul Gazzola, the most meaningful measure of 40 years in the business is the relationships built along the way. “He wants every client to feel they have someone they can trust and turn to for knowledgeable, honest advice,” says Brittany.

Giving back to the community

Giving back to the community has always been an important part of Guelph Mortgage Architects, and the team is proud to support organizations that make a meaningful difference in the community.

Over the years, they have supported organizations including Hospice Wellington, Habitat for Humanity, the Children’s Wish Foundation, Guelph General Hospital, and the Norma Owen Memorial, among many others, while also sponsoring more than a dozen local youth sports teams each year.

Giving back is Guelph Mortgage Architect’s way of showing gratitude to a community that has played such an important role in the family and the business over the past 40 years.

“Guelph has given us friendships, opportunities, incredible clients, and so many reasons to be grateful,” says Paul. “Giving back is our way of saying thank you. We feel incredibly fortunate to call Guelph home, and we want to continue investing in the people and organizations that make this such a special place to live and work for generations to come.”

A sincere thank you to Guelph

For Paul Gazzola and his family, 40 years in business comes down to two heartfelt words: Thank You.

Thank you to the clients who placed their trust in Paul and his team, to the families that have referred friends and loved ones, and to a community that has supported them for four decades. The relationships built over those 40 years are what Paul values most.

“Our success would never have been possible without Guelph,” says Paul. “Helping our clients is the reason we love what we do. Seeing someone realize their dream of purchasing their first home, or seeing the weight lifted off their shoulders when they’re able to achieve some debt relief, is incredibly rewarding.”

That sense of purpose is what continues to drive Paul, even after 40 years and 12-hour days. And it’s what makes his family so proud to carry the business forward. For them, it’s about more than continuing a successful business, it’s about carrying forward the values Paul built it on; hard work, integrity, family, and a genuine commitment to helping people.
